Bridesmaid Thought She Had a Stomach Virus — It Turned Out to Be a Life-Changing Surprise

A Kentucky woman who feared she had spread a stomach bug at her cousin’s wedding later discovered that her illness had a much happier explanation.

Jade Geralds, 27, attended her cousin’s wedding on May 11, 2024, in Glasgow, Kentucky, serving as a bridesmaid. Although she felt slightly “off” that morning, she decided to push through and enjoy the celebration with her husband, Jamison, 25. She made it through the wedding day but still didn’t feel quite right.

The following morning, her symptoms worsened significantly. Feeling extremely sick, Jade worried she might have caught — and possibly passed along — a stomach virus during the festivities. She quickly messaged the bridal party to warn them to watch for symptoms.

However, a few days later, she learned that the illness wasn’t caused by a virus at all.She was pregnant.

Jade later shared on TikTok that what she thought was a stomach bug was actually early pregnancy sickness. After the initial shock wore off, she and her husband were thrilled. The couple welcomed their son, Drake, who is now over a year old.
