William Shatner Confirms He Doesn’t Have Long To Live

William Shatner, the 91-year-old Star Trek icon, has opened up about his mortality in a recent interview ahead of the release of his documentary, “You Can Call Me Bill.” Shatner admitted that he doesn’t have much time left to live but decided to make the documentary to reach out to his grandchildren after his death.

He explained that his time is limited and he wanted to make sure he leaves something meaningful behind for his loved ones to remember him by. Shatner is a proud grandfather to five grandchildren from his three previous marriages.

The documentary, directed by Alexandre O. Philippe, premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in Texas. Shatner’s daughters — Leslie, Lisabeth, and Melanie — were also featured in the documentary.

In 2014, Shatner spoke to The Guardian about his grandchildren and how being a grandparent has brought him the greatest joy in life. He said he takes the time to talk with them, hug and kiss them, and share some of the lessons he has learned throughout his long and successful career.

Shatner also made headlines after reuniting with his ex-wife, Elizabeth Martin, three years after their $2 million divorce settlement. The two attended the Living Legends of Aviation Awards in Beverly Hills in January and spoke openly about their renewed connection.Shatner described Elizabeth as “the zest of life,” while she referred to their relationship as “cinnamon.” In March 2020, the couple finalized their divorce settlement. Shatner kept his Studio City home and his ranch in Three Rivers, California, while Elizabeth received their properties in Malibu Cove and Versailles, Kentucky, along with a share of her family farm in Indiana.

Throughout his life, Shatner has been married four times. His first marriage was to Gloria Rand from 1956 to 1969, and they had three children together. He later married Marcy Lafferty in 1973, and the marriage lasted until 1996. His third wife, Nerine Kidd Shatner, passed away in 1999. In 2001, he married Elizabeth Martin, and they remained together until their split in 2019.Despite his age, Shatner continues to stay active in both his career and personal life. He maintains a strong bond with his family and continues working on new projects.

His documentary, “You Can Call Me Bill,” reflects his desire to leave behind a legacy for his loved ones. Shatner’s openness about mortality serves as a reminder to appreciate the time we have and to cherish the moments shared with family and friends.
